I am a former registered nurse and current licensed psychologist specializing in both Cognitive Behavioral and Mindfulness-Based Interventions. I trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at the Beck Institute and in Dialectical Behavior Therapy with Dr. Alan Fruzetti.
My meditation expertise has been cultivated by a meditation practice and intensive retreat experience spanning over twenty years under the instruction of many prominent vipassana teachers. I am a founding member of a local meditation group that meets at the Sahara West Library. It is open to the public and has no cost. In 2006, I began training to teach Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli. More recently, in 2012, I completed a Teacher Development Intensive for MBSR teachers through the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine, Center for Mindfulness and became a "certified" MBSR instructor in 2018. I have been teaching MBSR in Las Vegas for ten years. I am also a "trained teacher" in Mindful Self Compassion which I have been teaching for four years.
With compassion and understanding, I work with each person to help them build on their strengths and attain personal growth. My commitment is to meet each person where they are and move forward with them in their chosen direction.
I received the 2012 Nevada Psychological Association "Psychologist of the Year Award" for outstanding contributions to the profession of psychology in Nevada.
